Transfer Applicants

How to Apply

Come on over to our side. Looking for closer relationships with your professors? Greater opportunity for independent research? A campus where undergraduates don't have to compete with grad students for access to labs and research facilities? Then we encourage you to apply to Knox as a transfer student. Applications are accepted for entrance in fall, winter, or spring terms.

Knox is an exclusive user of the Common Application, which is used by more than 300 selective colleges across the country. You can apply online at Common Application Online or download printable application forms here. All applicants should complete the Common Application as well as the Common Application Supplement for Knox College.

Transfer applicants should submit the following:

  • Common Application
  • Common Application Supplement
  • Personal Statement
  • High School Transcript
  • College Officials Report form
  • Instructor Evaluation form
  • Transcripts from each college or university attended
  • $40 application fee
  • Optional: ACT or SAT I scores (see below)
  • Optional: Scholarship portfolios, audition tapes, or other scholarship submissions
  • An interview with an admission counselor is strongly recommended

A Note about Test Scores

The submission of SAT I or ACT scores is optional for most applicants. Knox adopted this policy so that you can decide for yourself if your scores adequately reflect your abilities and potential for success in college. There is no score above which you should decide to submit your scores. If you elect to provide your scores, they will be considered and can sometimes help us in assessing your abilities more fully. Scores can be submitted either directly from the testing agency or on your official secondary school transcript.

Home schooled students are asked to submit results from one or more standardized tests, such as SAT I, SAT II, ACT, AP or IB) or grades from college courses.
