3 Knox Women's Soccer Records Broken

November 02, 2009

Emma Swanson '12Arielle Dorman '13Coming into Saturday's away game at Grinnell College, the Knox women's soccer team was on the verge of setting several single season records. Arielle Dorman was in need of 1 goal to break the single season record for most goals in a season for a freshman, while sophomore Emma Swanson was in need of 1 assist to break the Knox record for most assists in a single season. In what has become typical fashion for the two, they were able to accomplish both on the same play.

In the 80th minute on Saturday, Swanson found Dorman, who found the back of the net, to score the lone goal of the game for the Prairie Fire. With her 13th goal of the season Arielle Dorman broke the record of 12 goals, set by Lloy Brodnicki in 1990. With 13 goals/5 assists, Dorman has 31 points for the season, which puts her in a tie for "Most points in a single season for a freshman".

Swanson, who recorded her 10th assist on Dorman's goal, now has the Knox record for "most assists in a single season". The record was previously held by Kristin Garrison, who had nine assists in her sophomore season in 1993.
